30.11.11Richardson reflects on 2011 and looks forward to 2012
Manchester-based George Richardson had another challenging, but rewarding season in the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB. The 19 year-old made the step up in class and, after a tricky start, really kicked it up a gear in the second half of the season, securing podium finishes and challenging the top drivers. George learnt quickly and realised what was required to run at the front. He worked tirelessly to ultimately rediscover the form that made him one of the most talked about young drivers in 2010.
Now, having reflected on the highs and lows from 2011, George and his team are working hard behind the scenes to try and secure the best possible drive for 2012. But, as ever with car racing, there is a lot of financial pressure and without the support of some amazing sponsors it is simply impossible to compete. Throughout 2011 George received unrivalled support and dedication from Joe Henderson and everyone at Henderson Insurance Brokers Ltd, Guy David watches, Crewe Audi and Monksheath Motors.
“This season hasn’t been easy,” said George. “We had a tough start but we remained focused and finished on a real high. I cannot believe how much I learnt and the progress I was able to make with my driving. When times are hard and things aren’t going to plan you learn an awful lot about yourself and your ability to solve problems. I worked so hard both on and off the track all year and that definitely paid off. I feel stronger than ever and I hope that will translate into some amazing results in 2012.
“I’d really like to thank all my sponsors who showed faith in me through their support this season. Without the support of everyone around me, I simply cannot go racing and everyday I am thankful to those who make it possible for me to climb into the car and get out on track.
“Right now my attention is fixed on 2012 and securing the best possible package. There are some good options on the table but a lot is still to be decided. I am hopeful that everything will fall into place and we will be able to announce plans early in the New Year. Fingers crossed!
