01.09.10Knockhill next for Richardson
Porsche Carrera Cup GB driver George Richardson heads north to Scotland this weekend for Round 8 of the 2010 series. Last time out at Silverstone, Richardson showed a superb level of consistency finishing both races on the podium. The Alderly Edge resident is now gearing up for action in Scotland and is hoping to climb on to the top step of the podium for the first time this year.
Eighteen year old Richardson, the youngest driver in the Porsche Carrera Cup field, contests the pro-am2 class of the prestigious series, which runs alongside the British Touring Car Championship.
Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife is Scotland's national Motorsport centre. The circuit is located in the Fife countryside about 10 miles north of Dunfermline. The track, initially opened in 1974, is 1.3 miles long and was created by joining service roads to a nearby disused railway. Since the 1980s Knockhill has been extensively developed to a point where it is able to host rounds of most of the major British car and motorcycle racing championships.
The Motorbase Performance driver, supported by Henderson Insurance Brokers commented on the weekend ahead saying, "I am really looking forward to getting back in the driving seat this weekend. Knockhill is a really tight, twisty and technical circuit and requires ultimate concentration over the whole lap. It is a circuit I like and one which I think favours my driving style. The key to this weekend will be staying out of trouble as the first corner is renowned for causing problems. We just need to keep things simple, qualify well and push on at the front. It is not an easy track to pass around so a good start is key."
