17.08.11Time to re-group

As you know Snetterton wasn’t a great weekend for us. It was just one of those weekends where everything simply seems to go against you. If it wasn’t for bad luck we wouldn’t have had any luck that weekend.

Following the race we all chewed over the weekend and picked the positives out and simply forgot the rest. It wasn’t a case of doing things wrong or making mistakes, we just got hit with unforeseen issues and problems that you can’t plan for. But there were a few positives to take out of it and we can move onto Knockhill now with the hope that all the bad luck is out of the way.

Knockhill is a circuit I love racing at, especially when it’s wet and I think we have everything in place to get back at the front. I am actually heading down to the Motorbase HQ in Kent this week to spend some time with the guys and try to improve my understanding from an engineering and mechanical perspective. It will help me understand why and how the car reacts the way it does and how certain adjustments affect the cars performance and handling. It will hopefully improve my quality and level of feedback to the guys when trying to set-up the car.

Away from the race track I have been doing some work experience with the Vitamin Water company following my graduation from business school. They have been really good to me and allowed me to work around my hectic racing schedule. I have learnt a lot already and it will definitely be beneficial in the long run.

In terms of racing plans for next year, everything seems to be falling into place. I have been in a few meetings to discuss options and I am happy with the way everything is looking. I just need to do all I can to get this season back on track. I wouldn’t say the first half of the year has gone to plan, but we performed well at Oulton and we are continuing to improve the car and move closer to the front. Snetterton was disappointing but we are fired up and ready for Knockhill that’s for sure!
